Downloading FLV files from YouTube et al isn't always straightforward. Up till now I have used a combination of the Firefox Video Downloader extension, and iSquint to capture the FLV files for viewing offline, or on other devices. I have been experimenting with the Vixy FLV Converter which makes this a one step process... and it is fast. The browser based service converts the FLV files to a useful selection of formats, including 3gp for mobile phones.
Howdy...couldn't you use Democracy Player (FOSS)? It plays FLV video files without problem.

Thanks for sharing this, though.

Hi Miguel
You are right,I blogged about this a while ago http://theok.typepad.com/digital_signposts/2005/10/dtv.html and it is on my list to cover again, because there have been some significant improvements and upgrades since then.
Best wishes
