Over the top?
I thought 10x10 was an amazing and innovative way to keep up with the news, until I came across the Blinkx video wall on BeetTV earlier today.
"Blinkx is the world's largest and most advanced video search engine. Fed by automatic spiders that crawl the web for audio video content and content partnerships with over 60 leading content and media companies, blinkx uses visual analysis and speech recognition to better understand rich media content. Users can search for content, create personal TV channels that automatically splice relevant content together and even use our download feature to automatically download content to mobile devices."
Its still a bit slow to load, but well worth the wait and some time spent playing with it. You can view the channels and embed it in your web pages or blog, customising the size of the video matrix to suit. It asks some interesting questions about how we absorb and assimilate information. How much can we cope with? Is it it over the top? Perhaps the answer depends on our experience, perhaps its the sort of interface we may all be using sooner than we think.
Its already got me thinking how we could use this technology in an education and learning context.
