Writely , the (on-line word processor), has been subsumed into Google Docs, sharing a combined interface with Google Spreadsheets. Clicking on the Writely URL takes you straight to Google Docs now sporting Google's minimalist blue interface. All the tools are still there together with some new features, (which I have to check out yet), more is promised including integration with G Mail. So let's wait and see what's in store for YouTube.
Hi Theo
I have been looking at the use of Google Docs to help smooth the administration burden at school. We use assessment manage a SIMS based program that can import data via excel and I think that this will be really useful. Also we are going to have a look at depositing simple docs like newsletters as well. I have talked to the office staff and they also like the idea of online calendars for non-contact times and other school based events. Have you used any different online calendars?
I also noticed you have a register running in your screenshot?

Hi Tom
I used to use iCal on a mac, but now use Google Calendar, it is not dependent on others using macs. I can also access the calendars of all my colleagues at the University of Hull, where I work as an associate consultant. Because I have been known to forget/lose registers in the past, I find Google Docs an ideal way to avoid this happening.
Steve Beard has posted a collaborative way of using docs here; http://tarannau.ethink.org.uk/2006/10/25/google-docs/. Sory about long URLs;Typepad does not allow HTML in comments - something I am going to take up with them!
